MultiBall: A Very Candid Review

My boyfriend and I have had a rough week.

I was feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, insecure, and unmotivated. All I wanted was  to throw my phone out the window, close my computer, crawl into bed, and sleep. Since I couldn’t do that, I cried at least once a day.

My boyfriend is much less dramatic than myself, so he didn’t look as much of a mess as I did. Nevertheless, he came up to me and said, “nothing is working out the way it should. So many problems are piling up… and with no solution in sight.”

Both of us had a lot of work to do, so we did business as usual, but with clouds over our heads. This happens to everyone from time to time, I’m sure. We all battle with these feelings in different ways, but it is so important that we don’t forget to take care of ourselves during times like these. So we did:

  • We went for a picnic in the park. Getting fresh air, feeling the sun on our skin, eating our first watermelon of the year, taking some time to absorb nature always helps.
  • We did a workout. Usually, we’re both excited to hit the gym, but this time, it took mutual motivation to get us there.
  • After the workout, we were really tempted to go to McDonalds, but we decided to make a homemade meal instead. I love McDonalds, but it was worth it not to go this time.
  • We tried a new activity together: MultiBall.

Besides a sunny Monday, the week’s weather matched our moods: cloudy with a chance of rain. We both wanted a break from work, so we got in the car and drove to our local family and recreation center, Inspiro.

Our mission was simple: we wanted to do something fun, we wanted to get a work out in, and we wanted to do it together. MultiBall was a perfect solution for that.

We came to the center, and the lovely staff set us up immediately. In about five minutes, we were ready to play. I was so surprised at how little supervision and instructions are needed to play the game: you press the wall with your hand to navigate the menu & tap with a ball to play. That’s it!

Both of us were also really motivated by the metrics and scores. The first game we played was Monster Match, which is basically Candy Crush XXL. After seeing our first score, we knew we had to get better. So we set targets and ended up playing the game five more times!!!

Then, we moved on to try some of the training modules, which actually had a level of difficulty that (1) would be desirable for training (2) made me question my aim, precision, and athleticism.

Overall, we were very sweaty and satisfied with the experience; and I can’t wait to take my other friends there as well! What’s more, we kept talking about the games we played throughout the evening, and our moods were so much better.

My only comment is this: I came in jeans. You can play in jeans too, but  I recommend sportswear 🙂
